Well, it's something. I wouldn't pay more than $30 for it, though.

the mouse version makes a little more sense, and for some reason is
the same price

Personally, I'm a huge fan of the multi-touch trackpad on the MacBook Pro.
Except for very mouse-oriented tasks (like gaming), it's actually my
preferred form of mouse input. If I had an iMac or something, I would
seriously consider getting one for it. But I agree, 70 bucks is a bit steep.
Though I paid as much for the mouse I use on my gaming desktop. So it's not
an outrageous price for a good "mouse."

Yeah, I've actually wanted something like this for a while, I might have to go get it tonight.

Bring it by the space sometime so we can check it out. :-)

Though I suspect it's just an oversized, eternal MacBook trackpad...

According to everything I've read, that's exactly what it is.

Oh yeah, I'll pay up to $100 for a decent mouse. The Logitech Performance Mouse is the single best I've ever had, although the hyper-sensitive nature of the scroll wheel makes it ill suited to gaming, but the side buttons perform the same function.

I never did get the point of an external touchpad. As far as I'm concerned,
a touchpad is what you make do with when you can't or are too lazy to get
out your mouse.

Okay, just got the software update from apple. Two finger scroll with inertia is awesome.

It was also switched on by default, so if anybody finds their scrolling "acting weird" after the update, go to System Preferences>Trackpad>Two Fingers>Scroll>without Inertia.

I did. I've had several macs. I threw out a variety of macs when I moved, I
only kept the two Mac Classics for some hardware hacking fun. :)

Had two iBooks and a couple hackntosh. Didn't like any of those trackpads.
Didn't like the multitouch fancy pushy clicky thing on the newer macs
either.

Just not a touchpad kinda guy. :)

Oh man, I don't know how I'd live without the gestures on my MacBook. Using a mouse just feels so slow now.
